This Week Three Years Ago on The Hill is Home

Gus's Hot Dog

Each time I look back into our archives I marvel that what seems like yesterday was indeed several years back. As tired an expression as it is, where does the time go? Some of the posts in early October of 2010 could have been written yesterday, but some of them were certainly of their “era.”

While retail seems to be making bit of a comeback on H Street, the small number of retail shops on Capitol Hill continues to be a challenge to those of us who prefer to buy local and want more of product variety (Books! Clothes! Gourmet Groceries!). While some want to keep large chain retailers a bay, Nichole really wanted to buy a pair of jeans and her sentiments differed significantly.

In Things We Take For Granted Kyra raved about the Union Meat Company‘s hot dog combo, and its price point amidst the pricier lunch options in the neighborhood. Hot dogs and jeans? What could be more American.

Claudia of Hill Buzz also had her mind on food, with links to an early review of Aqua al 2, the culinary showdown on Barracks Row and a link to an Urban Turf post about the Lincoln Park neighborhood’s lucky proximity to all things Eastern Market.
