Whether you run laps around Lincoln Park or bike from the Capitol to the Atlas District and everywhere in between, Capitol Hill is the perfect place to live if you love to be outdoors (expending energy).

And, while we may never have an REI, we do have a few shopping options if you are buying a gift for your favorite outdoor enthusiast.

Workout Wear

On the second floor of Union Station’s main hall is Lucy, the chain retailer with everything a gal needs to get her outdoor groove on. From yoga pants to running tanks, Lucy has a well-stocked collection of workout wear sure to please the woman in your life. Some women are even known to wear Lucy’s very comfortable yoga pants to work. Don’t ask how I know this.

Note: If the woman in your life has never before expressed a desire to work out, now is NOT the time to get her a gift from Lucy.

Bikes and Accessories

Whether you need clothing, accessories or a simple tune-up, City Bikes and Capitol Hill Bikes , both on Barracks Row, offer a variety of gifts for your cycling enthusiast.

This December, Capitol Hill Bikes is offering patrons a second gift card at 20 percent off the value of the first gift card purchased. That means when you buy one gift card for $50 you get the second $50 gift card for only $40! I suggest keeping that one for yourself.

The Daily Rider features one of the best window displays on H Street. Head inside and you’ll find a “carefully curated” collection of bikes and accessories, including the oh-so-hip Bobbin bicycle. Remember the feeling of seeing a bicycle under the Christmas tree when you were a kid? Yep, you can have that experience all over again.

Finally, for those in the know, Frager’s carries a small collection of bicycle accessories. Nothing says “the perfect stocking stuffer” like a bike tube. One flat tire in the middle of your ride to work and you’ll know what I mean.
