Whether you prefer your harvest festive or haunted, two Capitol Hill schools are hosting fall festivals perfect for the pumpkin-carvers, costume-wearers and scaredy-cats looking to kick start their fall celebrations this weekend.
HARVEST FESTIVAL at Tyler Elementary
When: Saturday, October 27, 11am-3pm
Where: Tyler Elementary School at 1001 G Street, SE
What’s in store: Magic Show, Petting Zoo, Pumpkin Painting, Crafting and Painting, Moon Bounce, Music and Face Painting
Additional info: Admission is free, but food and beverages will be for sale. There will be two contests featuring prozes for the winners. The best decorated pumpkins (bring your pumpkin decorated at home) and the best costumes (individual and group/family) will take home prizes!
HAUNTED HARVEST at the Logan School
When: Saturday, October 27, 6pm-9pm
Where: Capitol Hill Montessori @ Logan School at 215 G Street, NE
What’s in store: Haunted House (ages 3-12), Ghoulish Games, Dance Party, Face Painting, Pumpkin Painting, Scarecrow Making, Mad Scientist Experiments & More if you dare… The haunted house gets creepier as the night gets darker, so bring the little ones early.
Additional info: Food and beverages will be for sale, and will include: Chili, Chips and Hot Dogs. (Children age 3 and under eat for free). The price to play is a $20 donation per family. Don’t forget to wear your costume!
