The Hill Is Rocking 4/23 – 5/3

Welcome back for another quick look at our best bets for you to get your rock on in the coming week. The pickings may look pretty slim this time around but that’s only because a one/two punch of Baltimore’s Lower Dens on 5/4 and Electric Guest on 5/5 at the Rock and Roll Hotel likely sucked the proverbial air out of the rock and roll room. So be sure to grab your tickets for those two shows NOW, but here is a little of what you can do with yourself in the meantime.

DC's North Of Canada plays the Rock And Roll Hotel on 4/25

Starting on Monday, April 23rd, fresh of their second Coachella performance Manchester, England’s Wu Lyf brings their heavy, post-rock sounds to the Rock and Roll Hotel. Then on Tuesday, April 23rd over at The Red Palace, The Koffin Kats promise to deliver a sonic assault on your earholes with their high energy psychobilly.

The very next night (Wednesday, April 25th) it’s a local showcase over at the Rock and Roll Hotel with North Of Canada,  Charles The Hammer and Sam Cooper and The Sleepwalkers providing a triple shot of homegrown DC rawk goodness. Then on Thursday you’ve got more DC goodness at the RNR with the bounce music sounds of Bike Trip with their friends yOya (LA) and Presto Bando (DC) supporting. And on Friday (you really should have seen this coming) yet ANOTHER DC band, Left on Vermont, will perform at the Rock and Roll Hotel, this time bringing along New Orleans’s Alexis Marceux and The Samurai to help fill your evening with music.

Switching gears (and venues) temporarily, Saturday, April 28th you’ll be able to find the heavy psycho rock of Duluth, Minnesota’s Retribution Gospel Choir over at The Red Palace. Then it’s right back to the Rock and Roll for the post-punk synth pop of  Xiu Xiu and Dirty Beaches on Wednesday, May 2nd, with DC’s Ugly Purple Sweater finishing out the week on that stage the very next night.

That’s it for this edition of The Hill Is Rocking. We’ll have a little more to tell you about the Lower Dens and Electric shows in the next week or so, but until then just trust us when we say you’re not going to want to miss either so get your tickets now!
