Seniors Feast Moved to Wednesday (Today) at Convention Center

Seniors, the meal is on the stove now. Safeway will be sponsoring a Thanksgiving dinner–or full food event– for seniors today, Wednesday, to be served at the Convention Center between 9:30 am and 1 pm. The event will also feature a health screening, employment information, musical entertainment and give-aways. It will be staffed by volunteers. The Salvation Army, Centerplate and Metropolitan Baptist Church are helping to sponsor, according to the flyer.

The organization that sponsors a Thanksgiving Day Senior Dinner at the First District just recently advised MPD-1D that they are canceling the event due to funding complications, according to Commander Daniel Hickson in an email to the 1D police listserv. They hope to still be able to have a dinner for seniors, but will not be able to make the arrangements for several more weeks.

There will be limited transportation available for today’s Convention Center event at the following Safeway locations, provided by SunTrust Bank:
