Taste of the Hill: Brent Elementary

It’s time for another installment of “Spring Gala School Fundraisers”  where we let you know about the many fun and tasty opportunities to support local schools. This week we are focusing on Brent Elementary.  Brent is a nationally recognized Museum Magnet public school. Each year the  Brent PTA hosts a foodie-focused event called Taste of the Hill where guests can sample cuisine from local restaurants.

Lucky guests can expect to try treats from Belga Cafe, Charlie Palmer Steak, Matchbox, Poste Brasserie, Sonoma, Ba Bay and Granville Moore’s. Desserts will be provided by the soon-to-open Sweet Lobby. Nadine Brown, sommelier from Charlie Palmer Steak, will be on hand to offer wine pairings matched to the food.

Guests will have the opportunity to bid on some items in a silent auction. Auction items include vacations stays, artwork,  restaurant and entertainment gift certificates and creative class baskets. Entertainment will be provided by the Hill’s own Free Lobster Buffet, a band which blends rock and ska.  I saw them at the MOTH picnic last year and they are awfully entertaining.

All of the proceeds from the evening, including the ticket sales and the auction will go to support Brent’s programs.

Taste of the Hill is Saturday April 2, 2011 at St. Mark’s Church,118 3rd Street SE, 20003.

To purchase tickets go to the Brent website.
