Frager’s Turns Back Time in Store Window

Frager's hardware--Then and Now

If you have ever walked past Frager’s Hardware, you’ve surely noticed the store’s busy window display. This week, in honor of the store’s 90th anniversary, Jessica Moore, a consultant in the paint department, has taken the once busy space and created a dueling “then and now” window display to commemorate the store’s rich history.

“The idea was to show our age and to shed some light on the past. We pulled all the old bits of hardware and gizmos that have been gathering dust for years — including the store’s original screw cabinet and original scale used to weigh nails by the pound! — to show what the store used to look like,” said Frager’s media coordinator Chris Strader. “In contrast, the “now” window highlights new products with pretty packaging and displays some of the advancements in technology, across all our departments.”

The store’s commemorative cake courtesy of Charm City Cake will also celebrate a similar theme. “The cake will be a representation of our storefront, with the old 1920 hardware store transforming into a new garden center, paint shop and rental store,” said Strader.

Expect the cake to arrive at the store Saturday at 10am.
