We just received word that the H Street Shuttle will be resuming service tomorrow night, Friday, December 18th. The shuttle shut down on December 6 because its initial funding dried up and there were no longer funds to keep it running.
According to a press release from the H Street Cooperative, “the Department of Transportation has identified funds to continue the free service through the fiscal year.” The press release also provides the following comment from Joe Englert, who owns several of H Street’s bars and restaurants, “I’m elated that we have the shuttle back. It’s integral to the corridor’s success have safe reliable transportation while H Street undergoes its remarkable transformation and metamorphosis.”
The free shuttle connects Chinatown, H Street, and Minnesota Avenue Metro Station and is operated by U Street Parking and Transportation.
This is great news – we hope to see you on H Street this weekend!
