August typically means ghost town here in DC. Those of use left resent the hell out of everyone who is not here and the FOMO is making us hate our lives and question our choices. That being said, I’ll be in Charleston next week. Feel free to check out my pics!

Tonight at the Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW), is the world premiere of a new musical Alice Adams. The show is based on Booth Tarkington’s Pulitzer prize-winning 1921 novel of the same name. Writer and composer Robert Convery has adapted the work and created a show with 21 songs sung by 15 characters. Tonight’s performance begins at 7:30 and tickets are $20. The show moves over to the Atlas Performing Arts Center Saturday.  Learn more here.

Check out Everlane’s pop up shop at Maketto from 6pm to 9pm and maybe grab a nifty new backpack.

Granville Moore’s is celebrating its 9th anniversary all week. Tonight is throwback Thursday which will feature dishes from the last nine years. No word on whether Bobby Flay will show up.

Friday is ARTnight at CHAW and this week features Groovin’ With Gigi (6:30pm – 8:30pm) which will theoretically provide you with some basic hip hop skills which you will be able to display at your cousin’s wedding.

The free Friday concert at Yards Park features the band, Lovely Rita.

Saturday why not learn to prepare a civilized lunch? Head to the Hill Center to learn the Art of French Cooking from chef Gerard Pangaud. This two Michelin star chef will charm you with stories and kitchen tips while he shares some kitchen wisdom. In this class you will learn to prepare Cold Consommé of Tomatoes, Pork with Caramel “Vietnamese” style, and Confit of Roasted Peaches with Apricots and Pistachios. This class costs $85, which includes wine.

Sunday try a free yoga class at Union Market. Yoga with Nya is a weekly event featuring different teachers each week. This week will feature a power flow so maybe bring a towel. The class is free and begins at noon.

The Nats play the Braves this weekend, which is always fun. Bring a kid so they can run the bases after Sunday’s game.
