Events DC is hosting a free outdoor summer film series on the Armory Plaza at 2001 East Capitol Street SE. Tonight’s film is Creed with Michael B. Jordan and Sylvester Stallone. Friday, the Folger Shakespeare Library continues Cross Talk DC Conversations: A.C.T.O.R (A Continuing Talk on Race)  hosted by Busboys and Poets. All are invited to attend these free events and join in the conversation. This month’s topic is Jim Wallis book America’s Original Sin: Racism, White Privilege, and the Bridge to a New America. Let them know you will be attending here.

Bruce Springsteen cover band the B Street Band is playing the Friday night concert at Yards Park from 6:30-8:30pm.

Saturday morning get fit, or at least try to, at the free Boot Camp offered by the folks at Balance gym at Yards Park at 10am.

Sunday check out the free pop up yoga class at the Southeast Library at 1:30.

Sunday evening you can watch the dress rehearsal for the following day’s A Capitol Fourth concert at the capital. This year’s list of performers include Sutton Foster, Amber Riley, Christopher Jackson (aka The Pride of Mount Vernon) and teen opera sensation Jackie Evancho, daughter of my date to the 9th grade dinner dance many, many years ago.

Monday no matter what your plans are for the afternoons and evening, you simply must start the day at the Fourth of July Barracks Row Parade. Kids on bikes, Little Leaguers, preschoolers who love to dress up, local celebs, people who drive Minis and more. The festivities begin at 10am on 8th Street near the highway overpass (9:15 a.m. if yore marching) and end at D Street SE. It will fill with all of the feels for your awesome neighborhood and possibly your country (though this year it’s tough to like). If you want more details on this homegrown parade, click here.

Happy Weekend!
