If you DO have school-age kids and are not happy with your current school or are trying to get your child or children into another school, this post is for you:
- If you want to enroll your child or children in District of Columbia Public Schools in a school that is not your in-boundary school (your assigned school by geographical area, which you can find by clicking this link)
- If you wish to apply for early education programs (PK3 and PK4) at your in-bounds school
- Or if you wish to apply for a space in a charter school, you must create an account with My School DC and apply for a spot through their lottery. If you are applying for selective high school spots (grades 9-12), the application deadline is Monday, February 1, 2016. If you are applying for PK3 through 3rd grade, the deadline for submitting your application is Tuesday, March 1, 2016.
Although it may feel like the universe’s cruel joke, all lottery results will be released on Friday, April 1, 2016. Wishing you all luck! Make sure that you enroll your child or children as soon as you know of the results: the enrollment deadline is Monday, May 2, 2016.
