Hope your Thanksgiving was fulfilling! I was so busy getting ready to host 16 people I completely forgot to write the To Do. I hope you all were able to manage!

I’m back at so what’s happening?

Tonight rest up and watch The Wiz. You need to pace yourself for the rest of the weekend.

Friday night at the Hill Center update your usual fare with some traditional Moroccan music. Innov Gnawa is a traditional Moroccan Gnawa band based in New York City. Gnawa music is a rich repertoire of ancient African Islamic spiritual religious songs and rhythms.The concert begins at 7pm and tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Get tickets here.

Faction of Fools Theatre Company presents a commedia d’ell arte take on Pinocchio at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop (CHAW.) Expect masks, physical storytelling sty;e and lots of fun. Performances are Friday night at 6:30 and Saturday at 2pm and 4pm. Buy tickets here.

Sweet Spot Aerial Productions takes to the stage (1333 H Street NE) and skies at the Atlas Performing Arts Center in an aerial arts holiday performance ‘Tis the Circus: A Holiday Party on High. Imagine if all the fun circus acts got together for a holiday party. Jugglers, aerial artists and acrobats all like the season too. Performances are Friday night at 8pm and Saturday and Sunday at 4pm and tickets are available here.

Saturday Labyrinth Games and Puzzles celebrates  years its fifth anniversary! They [plan to celebrate with cake, holiday games, local game designers, and more. All are welcome to stop by to celebrate from 1pm to 5pm. 

The 2nd Annual PARCEL Market is at Canal Park (200 M Street SE) is both Saturday and Sunday. Get there early Saturday to help decorate the tree. BRing an ornament and a canned good and enjoy treats with neighbors. After the trimming the Market will kick off showcasing an array of local goods for everyone on your list. Find sustenance from local eaterys in the food tent. There will also be workshops in relevant holiday crafts such as like wreath and card making. 

Cabaret XXXMas runs at Capital Fringe’s Logan Arts Space at 1358 Florida Ave both Friday and Saturday nights at 8pm. Fringe faves Pinky Swear Production’s holiday offering includes  raucous song parodies, original skits and a few seriouslike renditions of holiday faves. If you like your holiday to have a adult tilt this may be for you. More info and tickets are available here.

For a more jazzy way to celebrate the season the Capitol Hill Chorale presents a Jazzy Christmas Concert. Musician David Jellama and his septet will join the chorale and assist with the swinging salute to the holiday season. There will be two performances  Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 6 at 4 p.m. Tickets are Free to $25 and you can buy yours here.

The 4th Annual Krampusnacht happens Saturday night on H Street NE. (Krampus is Santa’s goat-like helper. He’s scary looking but essentially a good guy.) Festivities begin with a reception at Gallery O/H (1354 H St NE) enjoy live music and children’s activities. ($10 suggested donation.) The walk begins at 7pm and then head back to the Gallery for the after party.

Sunday night is the first night of Hanukkah and Star and Shamrock on H Street NE plans on celebrating all 8 nights with food and drink specials each night such as Mench’s Latke Poutine (night 4) and Kabbalah Shepherd’s Pie (Night 7.)

St. Mark’s Church hosts the Annual Lessons and Carols a service of Scripture and music which dates to the late 19th century. In this service, there will be Scripture lessons which recount the reason for the season followed by a song. The service begins at 5pm.

Monday night is the Ward 6 Brickie Awards, an annual recognition of local neighbors, businesses and organizations that began during Tommy Wells’ tenure as councilmember and continues under his successor Charles Allen. Come to Eastern Market’s North Hall from 6pm to 8pm to celebrate the individuals and organizations that make this a such a special place to live, work, play and blog…
