If you’re like me, you’ve been counting down the days to the start of college football season. It’s the only thing that makes me excited about the transition from summer to fall. There’s nothing better than a bar full of people cheering for your favorite team or at least appreciating your loud cheering, so I’ve compiled a list of places you should go on the Hill to watch college football starting Saturday:

Team-Specific Bars

The Hill is Home area has several bars that host alumni groups and are guaranteed to show your team’s game. If you’re a Florida State University fan be sure to join your fellow Seminoles at Union Pub. If you went to Michigan State, Capitol Lounge is your bar. The Nebraska Cornhusker alumni group meets at 201 Bar to watch its games. And if you cheer for the K-State Wildcats be sure to check out Molly Malone’s on game day.

Other Great Football Bars

If you’re looking to watch a different game, there are several great options in the area. Upstairs at Trusty’s you can watch college football at the bus bar. Tunnicliff’s Tavern across from Eastern Market is usually showing the most popular game at the bar. And my favorite college football bar in the Eastern Market area is Ugly Mug, where you can sometimes convince the bartenders to put on the sound for your game or just watch it one of their many TVs.

If you’re out on H Street NE, check out the rooftop bar at Red Rocks, one of the giant screens at Biergarten Haus or Big Board for some of the best bar food I’ve found.

Finally, Navy Yard isn’t just a place for baseball – check out some of the great new bars for watching college football like Willie’s Brew & Que and The Big Stick.

Happy football watching, and Gooooo Dawgs!
