Last day of school for DCPS tomorrow and the solstice and Father’s Day. SUMMER. How to celebrate???

Tonight is of course The Hilly Awards Kick Off! Meet neighbors and local business owners and out learn about about the new categories. The event is at the Credit Union House at 403 C Street NE from 6pm to 8pm. Tickets are $20 for members and $30 for future members. Get your tickets here.

Friday at the Hill Center the comedy troup  Laffrican Americans Present: Gettin Hyphy. The performance includes  improv, stand-up, stories and more. The show begins at 7pm and tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Buy your tickets and learn more about the show here.

At the Folger Shakespeare Library it is Folger Friday. Librarian Daniel De Simone will give a lecture about the current exhibition, Ships, Clocks, and Stars: The Quest for Longitude. The talk begins at 6:30 and is free but registration is encouraged.

Saturday the Capitol Hill Restoration Society (CHRS) leads a walking tour of Groff Court. Expect Victorian houses, famous Washington builders, economic boom and bust, scandal, and life in the alley , The event is free and no reservations are needed. Meet at at 324 E Street NE

If you are up for more tours head to Congressional Cemetery for a free Civil War tour at 1pm. Learn about the Civil War era graves with historian Steve Hammond. Meet inside the front gate.

If you are up for more stories check out the Southern Garden Party benefiting the storytelling company speakeasy DC and the John Kevin Boggs Memorial Fund. (Boggs was a beloved local storyteller who passed away suddenly recently. Expect Southern Style treats and drinks while enjoying storytelling by Speakeasy Favorites. There will be an auction as well but instead of massages and restaurant gift certificates attendees will bid of acts of kindness,  The party takes place at 1719 C Street SE and tickets are $25. Sunday is Father’s Day so maybe it’s a good day to take dad to a game? He can bring Fido because it’s Pups at the Park Day! Or maybe they will let you run the bases with the little kids after they play the Pirates…
