Lt. Kevin McRae’s Memorial Service at DC Armory, Tomorrow 5/15

Lt. Kevin McRae, a 24-year veteran firefighter, died in the line of duty last Wednesday May 6. He completed a rescue during a two-alarm fire at 1330 7th Street NW in the Shaw neighborhood. He then collapsed right afterward, as reported by NBC-4. Lt. McRae was the officer in charge of Engine Company 6, also in Shaw. He is the 100th DC fireman who dies in the line of duty. Lt. McRae is survived by his wife, three children, and his mother. More details of the call and his death can also be found at dcfire.com.

On Friday May 15, the city is invited to remember and mourn Lt. McRae at the DC Armory, 2001 East Capitol Street, starting at 9 am. The schedule, according to DCFEMS communications is as follows: the public viewing begins at 9 am. The memorial service starts at 11 am. Lt. McRae will be interred at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, 3401 Bladensburg Rd. NE.
