Two Rivers PCS Framing the Future Gala

Saturday April 25th Two Rivers Public Charter School hosts its 11th annual Framing the Future gala. This year the event has moved from the school’s contemporary elementary school building at 4th and Florida Ave NE across the street to Dock5 at Union Market.

The event begins at 6:30 with music by the Jazz Collective and food and drinks provided by local restaurants. Attendees can bid on art by local artisans as well as Two Rivers students. (If you want pre-schooler art you may want to extend your line of credit because parents of little kids tend to really bid.) Also up for auction are health and beauty treats as well as tickets and sporting events and even a trip or two.

A special VIP event  emceed by Fox 5’s Shawn Yancy happens at 5:30 and will feature a sneak peek at the upcoming middle musical Shrek as well as a live auction. Tickets for the VIP event are $150 and include admission to the gala. Regular admission is $100. Tickets are more information about the event are available here.

The preschool through 8th grade school follows an Expeditionary Learning (project-based) curriculum with a heavy emphasis on the arts. Students take visual art, music and drama each year. The annual art auction gala raises about 10% of the arts budget. Two Rivers is a highly sought after public charter school. This fall they will open a second campus in the former Charles Young Elementary School building.

Jen DeMayo is a founding parent of Two Rivers though her kids have moved on she still misses the Wednesday community meetings.
