Lots going on and tourists are everywhere. This weekend we reach PEAK BLOSSOM so avoid the Tidal Basin of course unless you dig the of thing than go for it.

Tonight learn to make sushi and taste saki at the Hill Center with chef Wendi James. The fun starts at 6:30 pm and costs $65. Only a few seats left so hurry…get them here.

Earn your happy hour Friday night at East Side Yoga for their first Hip Hop Happy hour. Rock the 75 minute vinyasa flow class at 6:30 and then sip and chat with your fellow yogis. The complimentary beverages are boozy and non-boozy and the class costs $20. Learn more and sign up here.

Rorshach Theatre offers a Pay What You Can Friday night at the Atlas Performing Arts Center for their new show very still and hard to see by Steve Yocky. Bad things happening at a strange old hotel by the sea? Sign me up. The show runs through May 10th and tickets are available here.

Union Market celebrates all things cherry blossom this weekend with pink and flowery themed specials including rose tastings at Cordial Saturday and Sunday, pink hued popcorn from Bazzaar Spices,  Sakura Black – a delicious Japanese black tea blended with sweet sakura cherry blossom leaves and flowers. and Sal and Sunday offers all patrons a 10% discount off of Japansese dinner ware this weekend if they whisper the secret code…”Cherry Blossom.”

Saturday celebrate the end of the festival with the Anacostia River Festival in Anacostia Park from 12pm to 4pm. The free event features hands-on art projects, musical performances, boating, fishing workshops, tours of historic Anacostia, bike parades, and other family-friendly programs focusing on the environment.

Sunday celebrate Ships, Clocks and Stars  at the Folger Consort’s performance of Baroque masters such as  François Couperin, and Georg Philipp Telemann. The concert is at 2pm and tickets are $37. Learn more here.

At the Arboretum take a train tour of their own cherry blossoms. Horticulturist David Kidwell-Slak will share the stories of the most remarkable specimens, trees of historical significance, and the results of the Arboretum’s research program. The tour is from 10am to 12 pm and costs $22 (or $18 if you’re a Friend of the National Arboretum.) Register here.
