Rose Jaffe’s exhibit, Women in Color, opens at the Fridge Saturday.

It’s a holiday weekend for many so there are the eggs and matzoh related activities but what else is going on?

Tonight celebrate the opening of a new luxury condo building on the Capitol Riverfront. Toll Brothers Apartment Living invites everyone to come check out the new digs for a complimentary night of live music, food and drinks from local favorites like Bluejacket and Aqua 301 and a special guest appearance from the Nationals Presidents. The Parc Riverside is located at 1011 First Street SE and the event is from 7pm to 9pm. It’s free but let them know you are attending at  rsvp@parcrsvp.com or 703-465-0500.

Friday evening at 7pm the Mount Moriah Baptist Church hosts the Elim Gospel Choir from Skovde, Sweden for a Good Friday Musical. The choir is touring the East Coast of the US and all are invited to enjoy this special concert. The church is located at 1636 East Capitol Street, NE.

Brave Spirits Theatre opens Arden of Faversham, at the Atlas Performing Arts Center. The play is an Elizabethan true crime story. Shakespeare, adultery and murder all come together is a wickedly funny script. Tickets are $20 and the play runs through April 18th.

Saturday morning at 10am or 11:30am take the littles to Blossom’s Rainbow at the Atlas. Local artist Margot Greenlee collaborates with the Arts on the Horizon to create a story about a young cherry blossom’s journey in the world. Told through music and movement, the journey takes the audiences from red mountains down to the indigo city in a new piece that celebrates Japanese culture. The show is perfect for ages 2-5. Tickets are $8 and the show runs through April 11th.

That evening the Fridge opens Women in Color, an exhibit featuring the work of artist and illustrator Rose Jaffe.  Jaffe’s expressive approach to line, color and form provide a refreshing take on traditional portraiture. The opening reception runs from 6pm to 10pm and the exhibit is on display through April 26. The Fridge is located 516 1/2 8th Street SE, the alley behind Belga Cafe, just off of Barracks Row.

Sunday is National’s Opening Day Eve. Prepare by reading up on the newest dining options (grilled cheese!!) over at JDland.com.
