Happy St. Joseph’s day! Any holiday that mandates the eating of cream-filled pastry is a must-observe.

What else is going on this weekend?

Tonight at the Atlas jazz drummer Matt Wilson returns with celebrated keyboardist John Medeski. The two artists are sure to treat the audience to an unpredictable evening of music. Performance starts at 8pm and tickets are $22- $28.

Friday evening at the Hill Center the Environmental Film Festival presents a screening of Food Patriots, a documentary which examines ordinary people who are working to make changes in the nation’s food systems.  The screening begins at 6:30 and is free. Register in advance here.

Saturday is a citywide clean up day. Called #SpringintoAction (must we hashtag everything?) neighbors across the city will be out in force sprucing things up. Ward 6 residents are meeting at Eastern High School. To learn more and register go here.

Saturday evening the Go Go Symphony returns to the Atlas. A mash up of the the Atlas’ resident orchestra, the Capital City Symphony with DC’s iconic Go-Go beat, this is a performance which combines a classical symphony with video art, a Go-Go beat, and Da Originalz Dancers. Conducted by John Devlin. These super-fun, high-energy concerts always sell out so book those tickets now.

Cheer on your favorite local pole dancer at the 2nd Annual Mr. Miss Pole Pressure Regional Competition and Showcase.  Pole dancing locals who typically get their workout on at Results gym will compete for the chance to represent the Hill at the April championship. Competition begins at 7:30pm, doors open at 7pm. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
