Yep: the Enthusiastic Eight, everyone! Drink them in. The hardest part of this stage was coming up with something that could alliterate/assonate? well with the letter E, so it was decided that Enthusiastic would do nicely. Because, my goodness! You are all very enthusiastic about your favorites, and we could not be happier.

All of the contests were heated, but it’s time for your highlight reel:

1. Biergarten Haus fell to the powerful rookie, Sol Mexican Grill. This was our most popular contest, garnering a grand total of 760 votes! Biergarten Haus, who had sailed triumphantly past formidable foe Star & Shamrock could not find its way around Sol’s tight defensive line.

2. It was a close contest between Kelly’s Irish Times and Tunnicliff’s, but the Demon Bar of 7th Street (seriously, just go with it) nixed the Irish hopes in this round. Better luck next year!

3. In one of two David Vs. Goliath outcomes, the Big Board crushed recent Washington Post editors’ pick  The Argonaut. It was a decent victory too –a 56-vote margin.

4. The other David Vs. Goliath was a nail-biting heartbreaker: Justin’s Cafe –a new contender to the crown this year– defeated venerable institution the Tune Inn by ONE VOTE. Democracy can break your heart, kids.

5. Little Miss Whiskey’s confidently advanced to the next round, leaving Obama date night pick Boundary Road in the dust.

6. The Beast out of Southeast, Trusty’s, crushed media and critic darling Rose’s Luxury in what looked like a very close race for most of the weekend. In the end, 46 votes wrested the laurels out of Rose’s hands.

7. In a true clash of titans, first year Bar Madness winner, the pug, squared off against last year’s winner, Beuchert’s Saloon. This year, the feisty dive that could bested the swanky Pennsylvania Avenue spot.

8. Finally, a heated contest between two bars with passionate followings: in went the Dubliner and the Queen Vic. Nearly four hundred votes later, the Queen ruled.

Once again, we away to the polls. Only one bar will emerge victorious, but which?

You may vote for your beloved until Wednesday, April Fools’ Day, at 11:59 pm. Get voting!
