If you want to venture out from under your pile of blankets here are some ideas for fun:

Tonight, Washington Post book editor Ron Charles interviews poet Frank Bidart, winner of the 2013 National Book Critics Circle award. The event begins at 7pm and is free. More information can be found here.

Friday night, the Atlas Performing Arts Center opens its 6th annual INTERSECTIONS festival. Three art-packed weekends with something for everyone. Seriously. Tonight check out Taffety Punk Theatre’s dance-theatre piece “Enter Ophelia Distracted” or the world beat of Check Hamala Diabate. atlasarts.org

Indulge your ski lodge fantasies at Vendetta get at Camp DC at 9:30pm. You can dress like a ski bunny without actually having to ski. Win-win.

Saturday night, from 7pm to 11pm, is the Corner store’s monthly off-site jazz and blues jam night at David Weiner’s house at 21 Gessford Court, SE. The evening includes a hearty meal although pot luck contributions are welcome. It is BYOB to share and a $10 contribution.

Sunday night is Oscar night. You can pre-game and do good at the same time at the annual red carpet event for Jan’s Tutoring House 6pm to 8pm at the Hill Center. Master of ceremonies Tommy Wells will lead an evening featuring food, fun, award, a silent auction all benefiting tutoring services for underserved children in the area.More information can be found here.
