Heat Things Up With The DC Rollergirls

PhotoUPDATE (2/21/15 1:30 PM) Due to the government snow-related closing, the Bouts today have been canceled.

It may be cold outside but the battle is heating up in the DC Armory. The DC Rollergirls want to remind you that they play rain, shine, or snow and they have a competition in town this Saturday!

Come to see the Majority Whips take on the DC Demoncats and stay for the matchup between Scare Force One and the Cherry Blossom Bombshells.

Doors will open at 3 p.m. and the wheels roll at 4 p.m. Tickets are $16.25 and can be purchased in advance at ticketmaster.com. This is is a great event if you have never been. Its a ton of action and strategy and most importantly it is warm and they sell beer. It can’t get much better than that.

Formed in 2006, the DC Rollergirls are the National Capital Region’s only women’s flattrack roller derby league. The women who make up the league come from all walks of life – they are engineers, architects, lawyers, teachers, nurses, writers, artists, librarians and workathome moms. They came to this sport as novice and experienced skaters, as seasoned athletes and as former couch potatoes. But they all have one thing in common – they are strong, fierce, competitive athletes who are passionate about the sport of roller derby.
