Hang out with Poe himself Friday night at Congressional Cemetery.

Hang out with Poe himself Friday night at Congressional Cemetery.

My first To Do for the fancy new site! I’m sure the events will be just as fancy…

Tonight learn how the sausage is made. This is not a euphemism for the activities of our Congressional neighbors but actual sausage making. If the siren song of meat is not enough to entice you there is beer involved. Chef Mark Haskell will instruct attendees on the art of making several styles of sausage, each paired with a season beer. The class/tasting is from 7pm to 9pm and tickets are $65. Purchase here and pass the Lipitor!

Friday paint clay and sip Cabernet at Capitol Hill Arts Workshop. A riff on their popular Paint and Sip nights participants will enjoy refreshments while they paint. Check out photos from September’s event here. The workshop goes from 6:30 to 8:30 and costs $40.Register by calling CHAW at  202-547-6839.

Congressional Cemetery hosts An Evening With Poe, actor Tim Beasley plays the writer and will read three tales of terror and woe: “The Raven,” “Annabel Lee” and “The Telltale Heart.” Enjoy refreshements while listeneing in Congressional Cemetery’s Chapel, and save time afterwards to speak (and snag a selfie?) with the author himself. Admission is $25 and includes a wine and cheese reception. Tickets available here.

At the Atlas DC based artist, musician and actor Justin Ritchie hosts Make Them Hear You, an open mic night to highlight the work of LGBT Singer-Songwriters. Pianist will be provided or you are welcome to play or bring an instrument. Tickets are $10 and sign ups begin at 7:30.

Saturday DC Beer Fest returns to Nats Park. The event features beers from 75 different breweries. Beer, food trucks and a chance to run the bases sounds like a win.Tickets are tiered pricing. General Admission (1 – 4pm) – $40;  VIP Admission (noon – 4pm) – $60 includes specialty beers poured during 1st hour. More information can be found on the website.

Sunday bring the teeny tiny ones to the Atlas for theatre workshops with Arts on the Horizon. The troupe specializes in theatre for kids under 5. The interactive workshops will   use Mo Willems’ I am a Frog, P.D. Eastman’s Are You My Mother?  and Sandra Boynton’s Horns to Toes and In Between as vehicles to explore, move and engage. Tickets are $5 and are available here.
