Halloween is happening on a Friday. I think we can all agree that Friday is the perfect day for it. Kids are in school all day so they can torment their teachers with their anticipation but the next day is Saturday so everyone can sleep off candy or booze fueled hangovers. Whether you mark the day or not, we hope you have a fun weekend.  Perhaps I’ll see you be on East Capitol Street tomorrow night. I’ll be with tweens  sporting homemade Sharknado costumes.

Tonight be among the first of the cool kids to check out the Folger’s new Julius Caesar. The title character actually doesn’t stick around too long because his BFFS take him down right there in the Senate. The story of power, manipulation and Shakespeare’s version of the weirdo Roman character. (Seriously. Portia’s suicide?) runs through December 7th. See it now and tell us what you think.

Friday is Halloween and Claudia has detailed our neighborhood happenings here. Capitol Hill Books is getting in on the fun with “an abnormally large pumpkin full of some not-yet-googled punch concoction, snacks, and general merriment.” All are invited to stop in between 5:30pm and 8pm.

Cute kids and free candy is not your thing? How about a world premiere play? The playwright’s collective The Welders opens Not Enuf Lifetimes this week at the Atlas. The play tells the story of Frank, a 50 something white car mechanic who hoped for a brighter future for his son who instead dropped out of medical school to live and work in what he considers the ghetto. Ian disappears and Frank enters this unfamiliar world to find him.  The play runs through November 15th and tickets and more information can be found here.

Saturday Gallery O/H hosts Snake Oil, Saints and Spirits Art Show and Spectacular Variety Show, a little performance, visual art and fun. The show begins at &:30 and tickets are $17.00. Get yours now here.

Sunday stop in to the Hill Center to view and purchase pottery by 16 of the nations top potters. The Pottery on the Hill show and sale is an excellent opportunity to begin holiday shopping for some of those hard-to-buy-for people on your list. The event is going on all weekend long so there will be plenty of chances to get a glimpse of some one-of-a-kind art work. The show is open 12pm to 4pm on Sunday, 10am to 5pm Saturday and a preview reception Friday evening.
