Texas Hold ’em Tournament at the Atlas Sunday

Are you also filled with a spiraling sense of panic because it’s the last day of July and that means summer is almost over? No? Awesome. That means I’m doing my job…

Tonight (CHAW) opens  Gilbert & Sullivan’s Patience, Bunthorne’s Bride which runs for eight performances July 31-August 2 and 7-9, 2014 at 545 7th Street, SE.  Tickets are $20 and are available by calling (202) 547-6839 or at bwashington@chaw.org.  The cast members hail from the CHAW community, GLBT arts community, and the community-at-large. For more information, visit www.chaw.org or call (202) 547-6839.

Daikaya Beverage Director Lukas Smith will guest-bartend on The Liaison’s Rooftop Pool & Lounge from 6-8pm. Proceeds from his Greenwich Meridian cocktail as well as any tips he collects will benefit the Point Foundation, which “empowers promising LGBTQ students to achieve their full academic and leadership potential.” (Full bar available as always with Happy Hour extended until 8pm.)

Friday night pick up your pencils and learn to draw working from a figure at CHAW. No instructor will be there but a live model will. Drop in fee is $20. More information can be found here.

Saturday  morning bring the kids to the Folger for the free Shake Up Your Saturdays program, this one is called We Are Shakespeare. It is only an hour so get there on time.

Sunday the Atlas hosts an all-day Deep Stack Texas Hold ’em Tournament. I believe this has something to do with poker? There are plenty of prizes available and a portion of the proceeds will go to support the Atlas.  Registration begins at 11 but you can get the early-bird deal in advance here.
