To Do

Sorry this is a day late, I’m sure you all were too exhausted from watching the US- Germany game that you had no energy to pursue anything else last night.

Tonight at the Atlas the Capital City Symphony teams up again with the Go Go Symphony. Their show sold out during the INTERSECTIONS festival this past winter and I caught a bit and it was awesome. Go go and hip hip with a symphonic kick. The audience was on their feet. There are two shows tonight only and you won’t want to miss it! www.atlasarts.org.

Saturday head over to RFK because the DC Carnival is back!  Go for the rides such as the Gravitron, the Dragon Wagon, and the Silver Streak,  games, shows including Circus Flores, Lance Gifford’s Magic & Illusion Show, Las Vegas Hypnotist Show, Wild Wolves Show, Tiger Show. (Does the newhilleast listserve know about the tigers??)
Indulge in typical fair foods like funnel cake and try one of the deep fried Oreos and deep fried candy bars.

Admission to the carnival is $8.00; 2-for-1 coupons are available online until June 27. Unlimited ride passes and wristbands will be available at the event daily for $25, or $20 when purchased online. For operating hours, event schedule, and coupons go to RFKfair.com.

Sunday evening the Atlas hosts Brad Linde and Underwater Ghosts with Erika Dohl and Third Wheel as part of DC Jazz Festival. This post-cool chamber ensemble improvises on concepts and inspirations from the modern jazz of the 1950s, 20th Century music, the Baroque Era, and free improvisation.  Tickets are $15 and the show starts at 7pm.

Jen DeMayo is Director of Community at the Atlas Performing Arts Center.
