Tonight? This weekend is your final chance to catch the Folger’s in-the-round presentation of the dastardly Richard III.  Get those tickets here. Yes this wind is more suited to King Lear but we go to the theatre with with the Shakespearean protagonist we have…

Friday night at the Hill Center author Phil Klay discusses his acclaimed debut short story collection, Redeployment with writer Jennifer Vanderbes. This event is co-sponsored by PEN/Faulkner Foundation. The collection ” asks readers to the front lines of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, asking us to understand what happened there and what happened to the soldiers who returned. Interwoven with themes of brutality and faith, guilt and fear, helplessness and survival, the characters in these stories struggle to make meaning out of chaos.” The talk begins at 7 and is free. Register in advance here.

At the Corner Store musician Joe Craven brings his musical talents back to the Hill. He was a member of The David Grisman Quintet,  was a studio musician with Jerry Garcia, Stephanie Grappelli, Allison Brown, Rob Ickes and Bonnie Raitt. The show begins at 8pm and tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. www.cornerstorearts.org

Saturday The Pendragwn Youth Film Festival takes over the Atlas. Local film making company Pendragwn Productions has been sponsoring this festival for several years and receives submissions from young film makers from around the world. The festival is free and runs from 1pm to 6pm. Bring the kids and then ask them when they haven’t done anything as impressive. www.pendragwnyouthfilmfest.org

Sunday afternoon at the Hill Center learn how you can vacation on the cheap with a home exchange. Seasoned house-exchanger Beth Millemann will guide you through everything you need to know to make it happen. Learn how Beth and her family began exchanging and see some of the incredible places she has gone, including London, Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Rennes, Sardinia, San Diego, Cocoa Beach, Montreal, St. Croix, and more. I’m assuming the streetcar is going to make my house irresistible  to worldwide  travelers so I’m in. The session is free and runs from 2pm to 4pm. Register here.
