Holidays = Shopping (on Small Business Saturday!)

small biz sat logoLike it or not, the holidays are pretty much here! Thanksgiving is about a week away, which means shopping season is about to be in full swing. Whether you’re someone who hits the Thanksgiving day sales after a slice of pumpkin pie, or a Black Friday aficionado, or are opposed to the big box stores, hopefully we can all agree that supporting local Hill businesses on Small Business Saturday is a worthy reason to open your wallet on November 30th.

The Hill has no shortage of small businesses selling a variety of items to suit your needs. Kids on your list? How about a game from Labyrinth? Four legged family members? Metro Mutts and Howl to the Chief are at your service. Tiny tots with their eyes all aglow? Check out Dawn Price Baby or Monkey’s Uncle for the perfect holiday outfit. Consider Hill’s Kitchen for the foodie in your life or Homebody for some homewares. Holiday party invites piling up? Head to DCanter or Schneider’s for a bottle of bubbly.

And of course you’ll likely be visiting Frager’s multiple times this holiday season as your prepare to hang your wreath, put up the tree, purchase a new string of lights after you realize one tiny bulb has killed the whole strand…

This list is by no means exhaustive — a gift card to a hill restaurant or cupcake shop or coffee place or yoga center would all be great ways to shop small. For a map featuring other DC businesses where you can “shop small” next weekend, click here.
