Great Streets Recipients Announced

Here is a bit of news that we can all appreciate for years to come: recently, the Washington DC Economic Partnership, a 501(c)3 organization that promotes and stimulates local business in the District of Columbia, announced the 2013 recipients of the Great Streets Grant Initiative Program. This program distributes more than $1.25 million among different recipients in order to help stimulate small-business development and expansion. They also help create new jobs for District residents along selected Great Streets corridors and surrounding areas: these grants focused on the H Street, NE, corridor as well as the Nannie Helen Burroughs, NE corridor; the 7th Street and North Capitol Street NW; Georgia Avenue NW; and Pennsylvania Avenue SE.

The winners from our neck of the woods are as follows:

Atlas Performing Arts Center, 1333 H Street NE,awarded $78,332 for facility upgrades.

Chez Hareg Market, 806 H Street NE, $85,000 to help with the re-construction of the building.

Cirque Du Rouge, LLC, 416 H Street NE, $51,032 for renovations to the physical site.
Creative Hands Massage, LLC, 405 H Street NE, $75,000 to help with the build-out of the existing site.
Integrity Self MovementArts, 1361 H Street NE, $85,000 to renovate and expand current studio space.
RowHouse Company, LLC, 519 H Street NE, $85,000 for the build-out of the basement area and other interior improvements.
Sophizticated Ladyz Hair Salon, 1010 H Street NE, $73,095 for multiple site upgrades.
