I don’t know about you, but oven space is always the deciding factor in how much I try to wow the family at Thanksgiving. Any gustatory good intentions go up in smoke if you can’t manage to get the oven time to clinch the deal. And as much as I’d like to show off my baking prowess, this year I’ll avoid the cooking bottleneck and arrive at my parent’s house bearing a pie. I won’t feel too guilty about not cooking; the money I spend on that one pie will provide a full day of meals to a neighbor in need.
Buying a pie from Slice of Life supports Food & Friends, a local organization that feeds thousands in DC every year. Food & Friends delivers nutritious, life-saving meals to children and adults battling HIV/AIDS, cancer and other life-challenging illnesses. And all you have to do to help is order your pie by this Thursday and pick it up at CVS at 7th & Penn on November 23.
Now the big decision: Pumpkin, Apple Crumb, Pecan, Sweet Potato, or Chocolate Covered Cheesecake??
Please go buy a pie!
